Most dog food courses are based on theories “so and so” said, that all rely on commercial dog food.

Stop believing the lies told you by smiling dog breeders and vets representing the dog food industry… These multi-billion dollar companies are manipulating you! If you continue to feed your dog commercial dog food, death-by-disease is practically guaranteed! You must find an alternative and it doesn’t have to mean spending more money.

Making the home a place of healing for your sick dog

Dog Health

Do you have a dog that is ill or not showing the signs of a healthy animal? Are you unsure how you should treat your sick dog? For a dog sick dog the experience can be quite traumatic. Unlike people, it’s hard for a sick dog to understand why he does not feel well. He cannot make sense of his sickness or his injury and this causes further frustration and fatigue for the dog.

As the caring owner of a sick dog, it is your duty to make him feel as comfortable as you possibly can. Give your dog plenty of gentle attention. Allow him to be permitted to relax in his familiar resting place as soon as possible.

One thing to consider too, and that is if your home is to become the “hospital” for your sick dog, then you will need to consider a number of nursing issues that will help in creating a healing environment. Every sick dog should have a pleasant and comfortable healing environment.

When you realize that you have a sick dog in the house, your first reaction may be to snuggle him and lavish him with affection because he is feeling bad. Don’t get me wrong, you should give him lots of attention, but please keep in mind that too much attention can be a bad thing for a sick dog.

He needs rest and recuperation and cannot be constantly moved around and kept awake from family members that want to “hug him to health”. Learn to have a healthy mix between letting your sick dog know that he is cared for and allowing him to rest and relax his way to getting better. This is the best way.

It is advised to keep strangers away from visiting your sick dog as well. Warn any children that are in the household that they should approach the dog very quietly and gently. Avoid having the children use loud noises or make sudden movements.

Sick dogs are prone to want to play and interact like normal, even though they are not well. As stated earlier, a sick dog does not realize or understand that they are sick, so creating a playful environment can cause further problems.

As well as being comfortable and relaxed, a sick dog also needs to have plenty of warmth. This is especially true while your dog is in bed sleeping. If for some reason your dog’s bed area is in a place where it is a little damp or has a draft coming through, then consider adding some sort of heater beside him.

However, be careful that your sick dog does not get too much heat if you do happen to have a heating source nearby. In order to make sure he is not too hot, be sure to touch his coat now and again. This will help you make sure that he is at an appropriate temperature.

What are the signs of an older dog?

Dog Health

It is common knowledge that for every year that a dog is alive with us they are actually aging ’seven years’ in comparison to people. Although this is an estimation, it is very close to reality. To be totally accurate though, one dog year is more closer to a person aging eight years in life. It is therefore important that you have common knowledge of older dog health and how you can better supply your pet through his older dog health years.

It can be very hard to determine older dog health issues that may arise because different breeds age at different rates. For example it is known that large dogs age more quickly than smaller dog breeds. Older dog health would not set in as fast with smaller dogs like the chihuahua or the Maltese.

Many people who own the very large and beautiful Saint Bernard are typically surprised at the short lifespan he has. Older dog health starts to deteriorate at around age six for this large dog breed. Also, Golden Retrievers need to have attention to their older dog health at around age eight. On the other end of the spectrum, the smaller Yorkshire Terrier may not be considered to be in older dog health until the age of thirteen.

The first step in caring for older dog health may not be an easy step to start because many people are unsure of exactly when their dog is reaching those senior citizen years. The changes in older dog health symptoms come slowly at times. The signs of age appear gradually and are often difficult to notice.

Let me give you an example of older dog health that you may not notice for a while: The hairs around your dog’s muzzle will start to turn white for a few years. It is often hard to notice this graying appearance because most people would assume this to be just a change in their dog’s fur.

On a similar note of older dog care, you may not even notice until many years later that your dog’s coat seems less shiny, less clean, and not as well groomed at it used to be. These are signs that your dog has hit his late years in life. But do not panic.

Do not get worried about these changes, although it may startle you to suddenly realize that your dog is in is old age and will need adult dog care soon. Aging is natural for your pet as it is for people. Embrace these changes and give more love to your dog. And most importantly, become educated in older dog care so that you can provide the best for him.
